School Prayer, Right Or Wrong

In the Bill Of Rights, the 1st modification to the Constitution, titled "Freedom of Faith , Press, Expression" states the following : "Congress shall make no law respecting a conglomerate of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof ; or abridging the liberty of speech, or of the press ; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to canvass the governing body for a redress of grievances.". Now, I'm not a solicitor nor am I a legal scholar, and I understand that the courts have translated the foregoing in many methods I also realize that the way in which the modification is translated is dependent upon which judge is sitting on the bench at the time a case is heard and because an individual is a judge doesn't mean that that individual is infallible and it doesn't mean that that person does not have their own agenda.

In my judgment, having arranged prayer at school isn't "an enterprise of religion", but is instead the carrying out of the will of the bulk of the people in this country. I further believe that to forbid college prayer is "prohibiting the free exercise thereof". It is also "abridging the liberty of speech" of the majority. This country is meant to be a Republican Democracy where the will of the bulk of it's citizens is meant to rule. To permit this small minority to override the will of the majority isn't right. I notice that our voters can still pray at home and in church public faculties are paid for with public tax bucks, and so long as the bulk of tax payers need college prayer then they should have college prayer. When a teacher leads a class in prayer, no one is forced to offer prayers.

Some folks claim that when a kid doesn't join in the praying, that kid could be embarrassed or denigrated by the teacher or other scholars, so they say that class prayer is dangerous. No good teacher would criticise a student for not praying. If a teacher does so then that teacher should be reprimanded or discharged because that teacher isn't deserving of being a teacher. If some scholars disparage a non praying student then those scholars haven't been taught correctly about the rights of others and is going to be corrected. For my reasons, I never prayed during class prayer and nobody ever related anything to me. I knew others that didn't pray and to the best of my understanding they never had any issues, except that some of their mum and dad embarrassed them by grousing to the highschool. It appears that while the non praying scholars did not mind college prayer, their mum and dad did. The bulk of American citizens find hope and comfort in prayer.

To reject them a right to pray because a tiny minority doesn't approve, is just wrong. I understand that in a low number of cases some kids do have issues with college prayer, but to reject the huge majority of scholars the hope and comfort of beginning their college day off with a prayer is to stomp on their rights. To reject the majority their spiritual liberty goes against what this country stands for. One of the most significant things about attending college is that youngsters find out how to deal with others. All types of things go on at school that can have an effect on or trouble assorted scholars. They can not and shouldn't be shielded from everthing that they hate. Some kids are embarrassed by going straight to physical education class, should we then take physical education off the curriculum? Some youngsters are worried by particular things taught in history class, should we then take history off the curriculum? Some youngsters are embarrassed because they aren't good at math, should we then take mathematics off the curriculum? If we took everything off the curriculum that might embarrass or trouble a student there would not be any schools. If we defended the students from everthing that bothered them then they wouldn't learn the way to deal with problems and wouldn't be ready to function as adults. To my mind, forbidding college prayer is yet another case of 'political correctness' gone overboard.
